Special Programs and Projects

To ensure improvement in pupils’ performance level especially in academic phase, teachers’ delivery of educational services, and school performance as a whole, the following intervention programs were designed in line with school mission and vision:

ALIVE ( Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education)

 Binangonan ES is a pilot school for MADRASAH/ALIVE Class. Muslim pupils in the school are given instruction on the Arabic Language and Islamic values every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:00 o’clock in the afternoon until 5:00 o’clock. The Muslim pupils are being taught by Mr. Jamil Macacowa, the ASADITZ. This program started on June, 2006 and is being implemented since then up to now.

Reading Intervention Program
Project BREAD-B
The school evolved a year-round reading program for BES. It started in June and will end in March.  The first step is to conduct oral reading test to pupils of Grades II to Grade VI in order to identify non-readers and boarder liners and to verify reading levels of the pupils stipulated in the Form 138 and Form 137. Profiling of non-readers and struggling readers will be based on  the results of the tests given and then evolve a suitable intervention program entitled Project BREAD-B (BESians Read, Enjoy, Appreciate, and Dream through Books) for the struggling readers by grade level. By end of first semester we shall hold checkpoints, for evaluation purposes in order to find out if there were improvements noted.
Project BREAD-B will be conducted to Grade I pupils at risk in second semester.

Project LRT (Let’s Read Together; Be a SMART Reader)
This is the banner reading program of the school. This project aims to build and form the habit of reading. BES is working to have a culture of reading as a community of learners. In here, children are motivated to read and share to others what they have read. Books are around the school corner ready to be read by the pupils. Grades IV-VI pupils are asked to write the things, to summarize and note insights gained on the story they have read on their journals. Different reading activities such as readathon, storytelling sessions, read aloud sessions are to be done every month to ensure that everybody is having time for reading. Everyone is required to have 3 -4 hours of reading a day!
Manipulations of some English materials are also provided such as scrabble, word games and others.
Stakeholders are obliged to participate in creating a culture of reading to make BES a reading school. The motto of this program  “Be a SMART Reader!”

Enrichment Curriculum/ Intervention Program in Different Learning Areas
For mastery of the least and unmastered skills in the different learning areas PROJECT SKILLS  (Skills and Knowledge Intensification for Lifelong Learning Scheme) has been designed by BES  to ensure that there is a follow-up teaching and enrichment activities provided for each subject. The school is implementing the district –based learning intervention under its big umbrella- Project SKILLS

Project LIFE (Life is Fun in English)
This remedial scheme in English is done every Monday using the 40 minute time allotted for the remedial. Skills not mastered for a week are being taught and enrich in this day.
Skills mastered are to be enhanced and enriched through the construction of varied exercises and activities.

Project Math BILANG (Building Interactive Learning Activities in Numeracy for Grades)
Remedial instruction in Mathematics done every Tuesday concerning on the skills not and least mastered in a week.
Manipulative materials are also provided such as damath board and chips, chess, snakes and ladder, and others.

Project SPACE (Science Processes Applied in Creative Experiences)
Remedial in Science is done every Wednesday. Sci-damath board and chips are provided for the pupils to work on.

Project LAHFI (Learning Activities in HEKASI/Filipino Innovations)
This is done during Thursday to cope up with skills in HEKASI and Filipino not learned by the learners.

Nutrition - Project KBP (Kalusugan ng BESians Pinahahalagahan)
(Free Feeding Program)
After the Nutritional Status of pupils has been taken, a feeding program Project KBP (Kalusugan ng BESians Pinahahalagahan) for the severely malnourished pupils of BES is to be implemented. Free nutritious food like soup and bread, fruits and juices or a meal for lunch shall be given to malnourished pupils once or twice a week. The funding may come from the proceeds of the school canteen or may be solicited from LGU or NGO’s.
Monthly weighing is to be conducted to determine pupils’ progress with regards to their nutritional status.

Essential Health Care Program (Happy Smiles for Healthy Kids)
This project is sponsored by the Lamoiyan Corporation and Philippine Dental Association in cooperation with DepEd. This program caters the pre-school children to value having good set of teeth and develop good oral health habit
Pre-school pupils were given one year supply of toothbrush, toothpaste and soap for their use in school. Parents and teachers were oriented on this two year long project.

Development of Pupils Multiple Intelligences
Pupils are given chances to choose from the following co-curricular activities that will develop their talents through the talented BES staff and stakeholders:
Drum and Lyre Band
Choral Group
Drawing/Painting Sessions
Taekwondo

Staff Development (PROJECT E-BEST )
Project E-BEST (Enhancement for Better Educators and Strategic Teachers), is a special program for teacher development that has been designed by Binangonan ES to provide opportunities for staff to enhance and develop their instructional competencies to meet the educational needs of school children and for them to grow personally and professionally.
BES assists teachers to grow professionally by giving them opportunities to attend professional growth activities.
BES provides ICT training on basic and advanced computer so as teachers are equipped with the modern trend that could be of help in their daily teaching.

5.   Curriculum/Instructional Materials (PROJECT SMART)
To cater the educational needs of BESians and to sustain their interest in everyday lessons, Project SMART (Support Materials Applicable and Ready for Teaching) is being implemented for teachers to prepare the necessary materials for teaching and learning process.
The use of ICT (Information Communication Technology) in surfing suited activities and teaching materials for each learning area is being done by the teachers.

Environment (Project SAFE)
BES is working to have a conducive and safe environment for its clienteles. Project SAFE (Safe, Active and Friendly Environment) has been designed and implemented to have an environment that everyone could feel that they are welcomed, cared, and loved. This project ensures stakeholders feel comfortable to study, work, learn and collaborate with each other.
Intensification/Strenghtening of Brigada Eskwela is being done by BES to maintain its physical facilities and its cleanliness.
Proper waste disposal is given priority to ensure pupils’ health and cleanliness of the surroundings.
